Since 1996, employers can submit a digital copy of their employee's I-9 forms to E-verify to ensure validity and eligibility to work. This service is for free and is required in many states.
A lot of employers prefer this over collecting physical copies of needed paperwork since it is more convenient and accessible to IRS and USCIS, who can audit and validate the forms at any time.
Before you can use E-Verify, your Customer Support Manager will help set you up as a client in the USCIS website.
