For surveys that include rated or scored questions, Workstream automatically calculates a total score based on the answers provided. This score appears alongside each response, making it easier to compare results across applicants or team members.
The scoring feature is especially useful in screening surveys, helping you quickly identify top performers or flag responses for follow-up without manual math.
Anonymity threshold
The anonymity threshold is a setting that keeps survey answers private. By default, pulse, onboarding, and custom surveys are anonymized. Results won’t appear right away since they’re only shown once enough people from the same department and location have responded. This prevents anyone from figuring out who said what.
The default threshold is 3, meaning at least three recipients within the same department and location must receive a survey request before results are visible. Even if many people respond overall, results will remain hidden until this requirement is met, ensuring responses stay safe and untraceable. Here are some examples:
Anonymity threshold example 1
You send a survey to 8 people at Burger Blvd - Front of House.
You set the anonymity threshold to 5.
Responses received:
Name | Location | Department |
Patty McBuns | Burger Blvd | Front of House |
Tommy Ketchup | Burger Blvd | Front of House |
Pickles O’Toast | Burger Blvd | Front of House |
Sizzle Fizzle | Burger Blvd | Back of House |
Mayo Mondo | Burger Blvd | Front of House |
✅ 4 out of 5 people from the same department and location responded.
🚫 Results won’t show yet. Still need 1 more from Front of House at Burger Blvd.
Anonymity threshold example 2
Survey goes to 12 people at Nugget Nest, from both Kitchen and Counter teams.
Threshold is set to 4.
Responses received:
Name | Location | Department |
Nug Nug | Nugget Nest | Kitchen |
Frylie Guy | Nugget Nest | Kitchen |
Dip Doodle | Nugget Nest | Counter |
Sporky McGee | Nugget Nest | Kitchen |
✅ 3 Kitchen team members responded from Nugget Nest.
🚫 Still not enough for that group. Need 1 more Kitchen person to reach the threshold of 4.
💡 Even though 4 people total responded, the department + location combo hasn’t met the minimum.
Anonymity threshold example 3
You send a company-wide survey.
Threshold is 6.
Responses received:
Name | Location | Department |
Griddle Groot | Pancake Plaza | Kitchen |
Bunsy Malone | Burger Blvd | Front of House |
Crouton Cruz | Burger Blvd | Kitchen |
Zesty Zeek | Burger Blvd | Kitchen |
Patty McBuns | Burger Blvd | Kitchen |
Sizzle Fizzle | Burger Blvd | Kitchen |
✅ 4 responses from Burger Blvd + Kitchen
🚫 Still not enough; threshold of 6 hasn’t been met within that one group.
Pulse survey scores
The overall survey score is based on the eNPS question “How likely are you to recommend this company as a great place to work?”. General Managers (GMs) play the biggest role in how happy workers are. To understand how well GMs are doing, we'll give you detailed reports called pulse scores for each location.
Scores show how satisfied workers are. We'll rank locations from highest to lowest eNPS scores so you can see which ones are doing great and which need improvement. We'll also compare each location's score to the company's overall score, so you can see how they stack up.
Onboarding survey scores
The overall survey question is based on the scale rating question “Overall I’ve had a positive onboarding experience”.
Exit survey scores
Exit surveys don’t have overall scores since the survey is mostly freeform or open text feedback.
Custom survey scores
The scores are either based on eNPS if included or the average score across all scale questions if the rating scale is the same.
