Set up labor cost projection (Optional)

Workstream lets you set labor targets by hours, budget, or % of sales, showing real-time costs as you build schedules.

Updated over a month ago

Once the schedule is built, the next step is setting labor targets to keep labor costs under control. Unlike other scheduling tools, Workstream shows your labor costs in real time as you build the schedule.

If you go over budget, you’ll see it right away, no need to run extra reports or do the math yourself. Just adjust shifts on the fly and stay on track.

Workstream provides three ways to set labor targets:

  • Hours – Set the maximum number of labor hours per day or week

  • Budget – Set a weekly budget for total labor spending (e.g., $4,000/week)

  • Percentage of Sales – Set labor costs as a percentage of sales, which can be manually entered or pulled from a POS system

Not sure where to start? Most managers use Total Hours first because it’s the simplest way to track labor. If you already have sales data, setting a percentage of sales target can help you fine-tune costs.
