Labor cost projection in Workstream helps you stay on budget while scheduling shifts. You can set targets by total hours, weekly budget, or percentage of sales.
The system evenly distributes your targets across the week, or you can customize them by day. Once set, projections update in real time as you build schedules, giving you clear visibility into labor costs before publishing.
To use labor cost projection:
Access shift scheduling
Go to Team View, then select Time and Scheduling.
You can also sign in directly to the Worker Hub.
Go to Shift Scheduling. This opens the calendar.
Go to the week where you want to set up your targets, then select Set targets at the bottom of your screen.
Set your targets
Hours: This option helps you set how many total hours you want to schedule for your employees each week.
Enter a total number of hours for the entire week. We’ll split that number evenly across all 7 days, so you get an idea of how many hours should be scheduled each day. To customize it further, select set custom hours per day.
Budget: This option helps you set a budget for how much you want to spend on employee wages in a week.
Enter the total amount of money you want to pay your employees for the entire week. The system will divide that number evenly across 7 days to give you a daily budget. To customize it further, select set custom budget per day.
% of Sales: This option is for businesses that want their labor costs to be a certain percentage of their sales. You can set both the target dollar amount and percentage.
Enter a target dollar amount for labor costs and also the percentage of sales you want to spend on labor. The system will then calculate your labor costs based on your sales and divide that amount evenly across the 7 days of the week. To customize it further, select set custom figures per day.
Select Save.
After setting up labor cost projections, select Publish.
